HWHC: 0 vs East Grinstead: 1
This past Saturday, Hampstead L1s kicked off their Premier League 2024/2025 campaign with an away match against East Grinstead L1s. EG started the game strong, mounting multiple attacks on Hampstead’s defence, but goalkeeper Mim stood tall with several outstanding saves, keeping the score 0-0 by the end of the first quarter. Hampstead found their rhythm in the second quarter, making it a much more competitive contest with close chances, including shots narrowly missing the far post. Despite earning penalty corners, Hampstead couldn’t break through EG’s solid corner defence, leaving both teams goalless at halftime, sweating under the blazing sun.
The third quarter saw an intense back-and-forth battle, with both sides counter-attacking fiercely. Hampstead’s Rose, Tyler, and Madi showcased their 3D skills, creating promising opportunities, while Ion, Emily, and Liv worked tirelessly to contain EG’s counters. Hampstead continued to earn corners, but EG’s goalkeeper, Mila, produced an exceptional performance, preventing any breakthroughs.
In the final quarter, Hampstead dominated possession and pressed hard, but it was EG who managed to find the back of the net, taking a 1-0 lead against the run of play. It was a frustrating outcome for Hampstead, who had the upper hand throughout much of the match. With stats supporting a win, the result felt unjust, but the team will look to bounce back next week against Birmingham in the cage at Pad Rec!
