M1s Match Report 9th November

HWHC: 0 vs Old Georgians: 5

Saturday was a frustrating day. We all know how well the team played but unfortunately with no reward. There were opportunities to score (8 shots in total), and I can remember a ball travelling towards an open OGs goal only for a defender to make a last ditch save on the line. The first half was well contested and there was only one goal separating the teams at half time. In the second quarter in particular, H&W were by far the stronger team. The stats certainly support this with H&W having 5 shots at goal, 80% on target compared to the opposition’s four shots with only one on target. After half-time the opposition manged two goals in two minutes and this really made the difference to the end result of the match. In the fourth quarter, the opposition managed to convert two of their 6 PCs.

It was disappointing not to be rewarded with any short corners during the game despite 27 circle entries. Sport can be incredibly cruel sometimes.

This weekend, we have an opportunity to play as well in the build-up as we did against OGs, get outcomes in the circle and leave Oxted with three points. This is the second last match of Phase 1 of the season.
