HWHC : 1 vs Surbiton : 4

This weekend was the las weekend of Phase 2. It was a chance to play against the league’s second placed team, Surbiton. It didn’t go to plan in the first half with Surbiton scoring in the first minute and again in the 8th minute through a field goal by an unmarked attacker and a penalty stroke. The end of the first quarter provided an opportunity to regroup and refocus.

The second quarter was fantastic with H&W fighting their way back into the game. Earning a penalty corner which was scored by Matt GB. Surbiton managed two shots at goal during this quarter but these were dealt with by TRC and the defence. By half-time, H&W were really in the game and exerting pressure on the Surbiton defence.

After half-time, H&W continued to play well and had the better of the shots at goal, unfortunately, not managing to score. The H&W defence held strong, despite Surbiton having four penalty corners from 2 circle possessions. The fourth quarter started with the score still 2-1 to Surbiton.

With injuries on the H&W bench and few subs available, it was a tough last quarter. Despite a valiant effort to keep Surbiton at bay, they managed to score a further two goals with the final score 4-1, rather flattering Surbiton. Even in the last quarter, H&W managed to create attacking opportunities with 6 circle entries to Surbiton's 8, but, Surbiton managed to manufacture three shots on target with H&W managing just one.
