Dramatic weekend at National League Finals
HWHC Ladies 1s faced East Grinstead in their semi-final. They came back from being 0-2 down with a goal from Holly Hunt and penalty flick in the closing minutes from Joie Leigh. The game went to penalties with Miriam Pritchard nailing a double save to see the team through to the final.
The Ladies started strong and took a 1-0 lead vs Surbiton in the final with an outstanding backhand smash from Madi Ratcliffe. Surbiton equalised then went ahead and were 2-1 up when HWHC pulled their keeper to play with an outfield overload. They successfully defended a penalty corner while the keeper was on the bench but unfortunately Surbiton took advantage of the open goal shortly after, going 3-1 up and taking the win.
As top two in England, the Ladies have secured a place in the EHL (European Hockey League) next season.
