A strong finish to the 2024/25 Talent Academy cycle
HWHC Talent Academy squads travelled to Nottingham for the TA Cup, which marks the end of the 2024/25 cycle.
On Friday, the girls dominated against Team Bath Buccaneers, winning 5-1. The boys enjoyed an 8-0 goal frenzy vs Stourport.
After checking into halls and discovering washing machines, it was an early night for everyone. Feeling fresh on Saturday, the girls secured a 3-1 victory over North West after going 1-0 down early on in the game. The boys enjoyed another flurry of goals, taking a 7-0 win against Stoke.
After a mixed team quiz with master of hockey and general knowledge, Harry, it was lights out to prep for day three. For the third year running, the girls faced Old Loughts. It was an end to end battle ending 2-2. The girls remained composed for penalty shuffles to come out on top, 4-3, and secure top spot in their pool.
After their third round of pasta and wraps, care of England Hockey catering, the boys were on top form for their final match against Team Bath Buccaneers. They finished with a 4-0 win, top place in their pool and very comfortably highest goal scoring team of the tournament. A special shoutout to Charlie for joint top goal scorer of the tournament with 6 goals. Teddy & Milo also made their way into the top goal scorers honours list.
Well played to everyone - the standard of hockey was of the highest quality after 11 months of hard work and commitment.
Thank you to all of the players and parents for being part of a very special TA this season and especially Captains Tiger and Charlie for fantastic leadership. And the biggest thank you to all of the coaches, not least, Head Coach Harry who has filled many notebooks this season!
