The U18 Boys will head to Nottingham on 13th April to fight for no 1 in England
The boys drew the biggest crowd of the season to Pad Rec for their Tier 1 Cup Semi Final vs Trojans. The home side took an early lead with a fantastic finish from England U16, Jake G, from a tight angle on the right hand side into the left corner. Jake had his debut for the Men's 1s the day before, becoming the youngest ever goal scorer for HWHC's Premier Division side. Trojans quickly responded on a penalty corner with a great finish from star drag flicker and England U18, Kaden. Just before half time, Aidan stepped up to show his drag flick prowess to go into the lead at the break.
After some great end to end play from both teams, the home side found their third goal with an aerial from a 16 to Jake G in midfield and a well timed pass to Lucas for his first touch subbing on. Lucas carried from the halfway line to the top of the D for a reverse stick shot into the backboard. While Trojans challenged the substitution that lead to the goal, Arnie abandoned trying to spell Trojans on the scoreboard to locate the number 3 on the keypad to secure the awarded goal. A penalty corner a few minutes later saw Lucas secure another goal with a deflection in the third phase of play in the D.
It was a well deserved victory from a talented group, expertly guided by the Leadership Team of Aidan, Marco & Jake D, coached on the day by Darren & Ewan and managed by the most organised and knowledgeable man in hockey, Dom.
The H&W line-up featured four England players (U16-U18), seven current Talent Academy players and five former Talent Academy players.
